The Breathtaking Mansion In Northern California
Northern California is home to several well-known mansions, and a few lesser-known ones, too. Gable Mansion in Woodland, California is a California Registered Historical Landmark and a breathtaking work of art. Located in the small historic district of Woodland, this mansion is the centerpiece of the area.
The home is currently occupied. You can take pictures outside but do not ring the doorbell. Periodically, the property’s gardens are open for public events.
Each room in the mansion is full of colorful details, plus ornate ceilings that make the structure a work of art.
It underwent a massive remodel in the 1970s and ’80s to modernize it. The owners at the time kept many original details.
In 2018, the home was up for sale for the third time since being built. The initial asking price was $4 million.
A plaque in front of the mansion notes it is “one of the last of its style, size, and proportion in California.”
Many historic homes are privately owned, so it’s at the owner’s discretion if they want to invite the public inside. The public can walk past, take pictures, and read the plaque that indicates when and why the home was built.
